Mandalay is a real insider tip in Cologne. Centrally located, but hidden in a side street, you might miss it. However, those in the know know that this is one of Cologne’s most unique restaurants, serving up one a cuisine that is hard to find anywhere in Europe.
On the extraordinary Mandalay menu, you’ll find authentic Burmese dishes, as well as a few pan-Asian dishes. Short digression: Myanmar - called Burma until 1989 - is a large country in Asia that shares a border with India, Laos, Thailand, China and Bangladesh. Myanmar’s cuisine is therefore strongly influenced by these neighbouring countries. Authentic dishes like the famous tea leaf salad - hard to find in Germany - are 100% Burmese, and absolutely delicious.
You can also try dishes such as water spinach with oyster mushrooms, Burmese style squid or nasi goreng with Rangoon rice. The selection of seafood and fish dishes, as well as vegetarian dishes, is also remarkably large and diverse.
At the small and cosy Mandalay Restaurant, guests are made to feel at home. The service is friendly and courteous staff will be happy to advise you on your order if you need a little help. Reserve a table at Mandalay with DiscoEat and look forward to Asian cuisine that’s a little different.
