Information
The Vietnamese Phan family has a strong gastronomic background. In 1951, great-uncle Phan opened the family’s first restaurant in Hanoi. Over 60 years and generations of satisfied patrons later, the time came to go international and Phan family in Berlin decided to open a branch in central Berlin. A restaurant at Oderbergerstr. 51 became available, and it became clear: the restaurant would be called "51".
Such a long family history indicates that the friendly folks at 51 aren’t just any old Pan-Asian place; their family recipes are worth tasting. During the preparation of each of their dishes, attention is paid to ensuring high-quality ingredients and unique spice combinations are what their customers remember for days after their visit.
Our insider tip is to scan the menu of Restaurant 51 for the "Jackfruit Curry"; made with the enormous tropical fruit, which acts as a great meat substitute for vegetarians and vegans. What’s better, is that at 51, you can enjoy jackfruit without guilt as the fruit comes directly from their Bio-partner in Sri Lanka.
